The Cheshire Regiment - 1st Battalion
1st Battalion were stationed in North Africa at the time the Italians declared war in 1940. They fought at Mersa Matruh, Sidi Barani and Tobruk until February 1941 where they were shipped to Malta 1941 - 43 where they were involved in unloading ammunition & stores from ships in Grand Harbour under regular bombing raids. 233rd Infantry Brigade was previously known
as 3rd Malta Infantry Brigade. |
